An evening of creative play with tie-dye shibori and bundle dyeing, using seasonal flowers and plant materials with the expert guidance of natural dyer, Botanical Inks founder and author Babs Behan at the Botanical Inks studio, in Bristol's Old Market Quarter.
Learn to use contemporary natural dye techniques to apply colour and repeat patterns to textiles and clothing, whilst enjoying a new way of connecting to nature, being in creative flow, up-cycling pre-loved garments and transforming your wardrobe as well as transitioning your creative practice to using non-toxic, plant based natural materials.
You will be guided through the enchanting process of enveloping petals and plant materials in cloth, which is then bound and dyed to transmute the plants’ botanical inks along with their therapeutic qualities, into your clothing.
Please bring with you a selection of small 100% natural fibre items to transform. Nothing too large or fluffy. One or two items each can be used in class, depending on size. Unbleached 100% organic silk/unbleached 100% organic cotton or unbleached 100% linen are best the preferred options for this technique.
Our organic uk-grown silk will be available on the day for additional purchase and via our online shop, at £32-34 per metre (140cm width).
You will leave with the skills to practice this technique again using simple kitchen equipment which may be found in the home. And with your own natural dye eco-printed item to wear and use.
