Its bluey charm concealed inside green leaves, and transformed only by a certain alchemical knowledge and practised skill. It has captured the imagination of many.

A contemporary approach to an ancient natural dye technique that emulates the colour of our living blue planet.

This workshop offers a step-by-step guide though how to set up and use an organic indigo fructose vat, plus additional Shibori tie-dye techniques to create geometircal repeat patterns on cloth.

With only 3 simple natural ingrediants you will learn to create deep enchanting blues on fabric or clothing.

In this workshop you will learn how to set up your own organic indigo fructose vat with just 3 simple natural ingrediants, plus how to keep it alove for many years as a closed loop system and how to use it properly to get the best dye results on your fabric.

In this class we demonstrate using cotton and you can use this same practise for dyeing all other natural fibre textiles and garments.

Indigo dyeing can create numerous shades of blue from pale sky blue to deepest dark navy blue

I guarantee you will want to dye everything blue!

You will learn how to use the vat to create beautiful blues on natural fibres, with excellent, long-lasting results and all-over evenly saturated colours.

Plus a variety of different Shibori tie-dye techniques to create repeat patterns on cotton fabrics. These can also be applied to other natural fibre textiles and garments.

Troubleshooting info and notes are included on how to keep your vat balanced as you continue to use it, so that it can stay in use for many years, as a closed loop dye system.

Indigo kits are available for an additional cost with all the materials required for the class included, with enough dye to shibori dye the fabric included and one or two other small items of your own. The kit includes an organic unbleached cotton tea towel, organic indigo extract powder, fructose, lime + twine and pegs for resist print making.
