A different seasonal dye plant each lunation.
An invitation to journey with a different dye plant every month, with guidance from natural dyer and intuitive herbalist Babs Behan.
On the New Monn, we begin a new cycle, gathering plants and starting a daily practice.
On the Full moon you will receive a creative practise in your inbox including a recipe and a ritual, working with the pigment of the plant either as a dye, ink or paint.
I Am Making Art: Impressions of Nature
SPIKE ISLAND, BRISTOL

As part of Spike Island’s exhibition, Nour Jaouda: Matters of Time, join a drop-in winter workshop exploring the poetics of materials and memory through printmaking.
Adults and families are invited to create unique botanical prints using traditional wood block techniques on handmade paper. Working with natural inks derived from plants, the workshop embraces a slow, tactile process of making – echoing Jaouda’s own engagement with material transformation and layered storytelling.
Guided step by step, you will learn how to ink, press, and handprint the wood blocks, experimenting with natural pigments to bring botanical forms to life on paper.
Each participant will produce their own set of prints to take home – intimate works that embody time, texture, and place.

A day to meet Indigo, learn how to set up an indigo vat with 3 natural ingrediants and dye for the best results. Shibori tie dyeing techniques, dyeing lengths of cloth to keep. Bring a beloved garment or textile to transform with these sacred blues and give a new life. Indigo tea ritual and indigo dyeing ceremony to culminate this experiene with this special, mystical and magical. ancient dye plant.

A variety of my favourite natural colour practices including intuitove indigo dyeing and shibori tie-dye, floral alchemy with bundle dyeing, flower pounding and floral ice dyes along with wild harvested local seasonal dye plants for ink art and wood block-printing.
Comfortable luxury accommodation in private rooms and organic seasonal home cooked food is included along with all materials and wellness activities.
