A video workshop to guide you step-by-step though how to set up and use an organic indigo fructose vat, using 3 simple natural ingredients and a very easy to follow recipe.
You will also learn how to use the vat to create beautiful blue dyes on natural fibres, with good results, all over een saturated colours, deep blues and long lasting results.

BUNDLE DYEING WORKSHOP

Bundle dyeing is a contemporary natural dye technique, which allows for the direct transfer of colours and prints from flowers and plant materials, using a simple fold, bind and steam technique.

A beautiful multi-sensory experience of colour, frangrance and soft sensual textures which creates the most mesmerising repeat patterns over silk and other fabrics.

INK MAKING WORKSHOP

+ OPTIONAL KIT

A quick 15 min class looking at making inks for drawing and painting.

You can use other locally foraged and easily found plants.

You will learn to create inks from fresh plant matter plus dye extract powders, use natural binders for a suitable consistancy and modify colours to create wider range of colours using simple household substances such as vinegar & lemon juice

ADVANCED BUNDLE DYEING WORKSHOP

A 2 hour online class offering in-depth experience into bundle dyeing techniques, to create a range of different surface designs patterns, shades and effects.
Make a collection of samples with different fabrics, natural dye materials, mordants & modifiers.

MORDANTING CELLULOSE + PROTEIN FIBRES WORKSHOP

This workshop offers step by step demos & useful info on sourcing & preparing mordants from raw materials into mordant baths, how to succesfully mordant fabrics to take dyes well & hold onto them with long lasting effects. Also how to avoid getting unwanted streaks & patchy effects, for clear, even, saturated colour.

Learn how to mordant cellulose (eg unbleached organic cotton, linen) + protein fibres (eg regenerative wool, organic peace silk) with both local plant mordants & non-toxic mineral mordants, which can be easily bought from a local shop or online.

A series of short downloadable videos are provided to assist you with this kit, available in 6 x 20-30 minute videos, which you can move through at your own pace + 2 x 10 minute 121 consultation calls to book at your convenience, with Babs Behan, Natural Dyer + Founder of Botanical Inks Natural Dye House.

Each session offers step-by-step video demonstrations which can be done once a week over the course of 6 weeks, or quicker/slower as you wish, to fit in with your schedule and flow.
