Learn how to use fresh local, seasonal flowers and plant materials to create exciting repeat patterns on silk cloth. Make direct impressions from flowers, leaves and buds, using a simple steaming technique and take away the skills to continue practicing this non-toxic, sustainable print-making art from home. Create your own unique, hand printed silk to, make into a napkin or handkerchief.

The class begins with an introduction to the plants and a range of the achievable pattern styles. Choose your pattern style and dye materials and make a one-of-a-kind print, imbued with the special botanicals of your chosen plants.

Discover this simple bundling and steaming method for extracting floral colour and fixing it into cloth with colour fast results. Take the opportunity to learn more about natural dyes, sustainable textile design and the abundance of local plants dyes available here in the UK for artisan dyers to enjoy.
